Bar Stipend

The Mexican American Bar Foundation proudly announces the opening of the application season for its California Bar stipend program, now in its fourth year.
In awarding bar stipends, the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee considers the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, community service, leadership experience and any hardship experienced in pursuing an education.  Bar stipends range up to $2,000.
Eligibility is limited to graduating students: (1) whose ancestors are from Mexico, Central America, Cuba, or any other neighboring Spanish-speaking country or territory; (2) who currently attend ABA-accredited law schools in Los Angeles County (Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, UCLA, and USC), or UC Irvine School of Law; and (3) who will sit for the July 2014 or February 2015 California Bar Examination.
PLEASE TYPE OR PRINT.  The quality and accuracy of your application are critical.  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.  Applications must be postmarked in hard copy or received via e-mail on or before March 31, 2014.  NO HAND-DELIVERED OR IN-PERSON SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  (Documents that cannot be scanned or attached to electronically submitted applications may be sent under separate cover.) The Foundation will select applicants based on the written submission; interviews will not be conducted.  Most bar stipend recipients will be notified in April 2014.  Awards will be sent to students two to three months before the administration of the bar examination, or as soon as practicable, upon their having provided satisfactory proof of (1) registration for the July 2014 or February 2015 California Bar Examination and (2) enrollment in a bar review course.

Deadline for the California Bar Stipend Program Deadline is March 31, 2014.
