The Mexican American Bar Foundation proudly announces the opening of the application season for its California Bar stipend program, now in its sixth year.
In awarding bar stipends, the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee considers the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, community service, leadership experience and any hardship experienced in pursuing an education. Bar stipends range up to $2,000.
Eligibility is limited to matriculated law students who: (1) are of Hispanic/Latino heritage or descent; (2) currently attend ABA-accredited law schools in Los Angeles County (Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, UCLA, and USC), or UC Irvine School of Law; and (3) will sit for the July 2016 or February 2017 California Bar Examination. We regret we do not have the resources to assist other students.
PLEASE TYPE OR PRINT. Answer all questions. Attach additional sheets as necessary. The quality and accuracy of your application are critical. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applications must be received via EMAIL ONLY before midnight on Friday, January 29, 2016. (The application and all documents submitted therewith must be in Word or PDF format and if necessary scanned by the applicant and attached thereto.) NO HARD COPY, IN-PERSON or HAND-DELIVERED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The Foundation will select applicants based on the written submission; interviews will not be conducted. Most bar stipend recipients will be notified in Spring 2016. Awards will be sent to selected applicants as soon as practicable upon their having provided satisfactory proof of (1) registration for the July 2016 or February 2017 California Bar Examination and (2) enrollment in a bar review course.
