The Mexican American Bar Foundation proudly announces the opening of the application season for its annual scholarship awards program. Since 1991, the Foundation has pursued its mission of promoting diversity in the legal profession through education by awarding scholarships to Latino law students.
In awarding scholarships, the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee considers the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, community service, leadership experience and any hardship experienced in pursuing an education. Scholarships can range up to $10,000.
Eligibility is limited to matriculated students: (1) whose ancestors are from Mexico, Central America, Cuba, or any other neighboring Spanish-speaking country or territory; (2) who currently attend ABA-accredited law schools in Los Angeles County (Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, UCLA, and USC), or UC Irvine School of Law; and (3) who will be enrolled during the 2013-14 academic year. We regret we do not have the resources to assist other students.
PLEASE TYPE OR PRINT. The quality and accuracy of your application are critical. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applications must be postmarked (if hard copy) or received via e-mail (if submitted electronically) on or before March 22 2013. (Documents that cannot be scanned or attached to electronically submitted applications may be sent under separate cover.) NO IN-PERSON or HAND-DELIVERED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The Scholarship Committee will select applicants to be interviewed on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Applicants who are selected for scholarship awards must commit to being present at the Annual Scholarship & Awards Gala, which will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
