Apply for Scholarship

The Mexican American Bar Foundation proudly announces the opening of the application season for its annual Scholarship Program and its California Bar Stipend Program. Established in 1991 by volunteer lawyers and judges, the Foundation has pursued its mission of promoting diversity in the legal profession through education by providing financial assistance to Latino law students.  To date, awards for both programs total nearly $1.3 million, mostly in the form of 292 scholarships to 246 individual law students, plus stipends to law graduates studying for the California Bar Examination.

In making awards, the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee considers the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, community service, leadership experience and any hardships overcome in pursuing an education.

The Scholarships Program is designed to assist current law students who will be continuing their educations during the 2013-14 academic year.  A scholarship can range up to $10,000.

The Bar Stipend Program is designed to assist graduating third- and fourth-year law students who have bar examination related expenses.  A stipend can range up to $2,000.
